Melanie:" I just feel like everyone is on Christmas card letter behavior."
Aric:"well grandma if you don't have a chimney, Santa has a magic stick that opens the door so that he can just come in. "
Dad: " let's fry the mash potatoes for breakfast "
Hailey: " I've never heard of that before"
Dad: "there is a lot of things in life you haven't seen "
Hailey:"I've been to 16 countries"
Dad( not knowing that Hailey responded to his last comment)
" you haven't tasted real mashed potatoes until you've tasted my grandma rollin's fried mashed potatoes"
Hailey: "I think dad loves football more than he loves me"
Mom with a quick response:"he does".

WHAT DOES 88 DOLLARS GET YOU IN VEGAS?
I saw more bands this weekend than I saw in Hawaii in 5 years. It was rad. Here is a list if everyone I saw. Some I didn't really care for. Others, I was stoked about.
Friday night I saw:
Justin Timberlake

Boys II Men

Maroon 5

Jonas Brothers--didn't deserve to be there, in my opinion.
50 cent sang me my birthday song.

Rihanna

The Stomp out Loud show

Leona Lewis

Esmee Denters

Black Eyed Peas producer/MC Will.i.am
Lionel Ritchie

Saturday I saw:

Metro Station
Secondhand Serenade
Justin Nozuka
Lenka

Puddle of Mud
LifeHouse
and of course, the cover band at the Red Rock club. I can't remember their name but I was very intrigued by them .

Sunday night I went to the Beatles show LOVE at the Mirage. I could watch this show every night. I was so entertained every single moment. It made me want to restart my life and train just so I could grow up and be in that show. It gave me the same sensation that I get when I watch the gymnast at the Olympics. I want to start over and train so I can be one of them. and it makes me a little mad that I can't be one of them.

THE VEGAS EXPERIEMNT
Since I have moved here, I feel like I part of some psych experiment. Can I really survive in this town? So far the answer is no. If it were not for the contracts that I have signed, I would have left already.

I went to DISNEYLAND with Dar and his family over labor day weekend. I can say that I have never been prouder of my big brother Dary than I was on Sunday. Him and Kim ran a half marathon. We are not a running family and that is why I am so proud. We are a family of knee surgeries. Ty and I have a contest going on how many we can have. I think it is 6-5. Ty is up by one. He always has to win. I really am proud of Dary and Kim. Kim has been great for Dar. On a side note, I did meet the man of my dreams. His name is Pat E. Cake. Hopefully we will meet again. It was Casey and Corey's birthday weekend so we got to decorate cakes and sing with Mickey and Minnie. Good times.

I had a realization today about what kind of person I really am.. i really like to live by my work or school. I am not a commuter. I don't know what the opposite of commuter is but that is what I am. This all started when I was in the seventh grade and we lived a block from the Jr. High School. I woke up at 7:50 and made it to school by 8:05. Since then and minus a few years in high school, I have lived a block away from my school and work. I now live 10 minutes(5 long stop lights) from UNLV and I think it might kill me. I didn't realize how lucky I have been my whole life.
Another new thing for me that is going to take getting used to is locking my door all the time and having a key to get into my house. I don't even know when the last time I even had a house key in my possession. For some reason, I have lived in many houses where we leave the doors wide open all night long. We got some pretty good wanderers at the Buddha house at weird hours of the night and I've woken up to strangers on my couch in the Canal House. But I never felt that I was in any harm. It makes me have anxiety when I can't trust everyone in my town. I guess it is just more things that I have to get used to on this mainland.

We went to the Beaver mountains for a family reunion on the Dotson side. It was really good to see everyone. Tyson brought his 3 kids along. We were staying at a trailer that belongs to Dick and Toni but we got to the trailer at night and had no idea if we were in the right trailer. Since everyone is so trusting in these parts and trailers open with knives we just opened it right up and went to sleep really wondering whose trailer we were in. But in the end it all worked out and we were in the right place. Well some people went to sleep. Well some kids went to sleep. I don't think I can sleep with 3 Faye's in a bed again.

This is my new creative art fetish. I made this one for my mom for Mother's Day. I"m getting really good at making coconut trees. I have some really dark blue sea glass that I need to think of a picture to make with it.

This is a tribute to my Grandma Dotson. One who loved her fellowmen for 90 years, slipped peacefully from us to her heavenly Father on her husband's 89th birthday, December 16, 2007, at her home in Minersville, Utah. Emily Fay Therning Dotson was the beloved wife of 65 years to Ruben W Dotson whom she married September 16, 1942 in the Salt lake LDS
A smart, tow headed "cotton-top" daughter of John Knud and Mabel Wayman Therning.
During the services, my mom talked about how all Grandma talked about all she wanted was to have her grandchildren know how much she loved the gospel. When I was going through a depressing time with my knee surgeries, she would call me a few times a week. She would say, "We are in good shape for the shape we are in." I knew that she was in pain but she would never complain about it. She was a big influence in me to help me be positive. I was in a lot of pain and I tried not to complain because I wanted to be like her.
This is one of her favorite poems,
Abou Ben Adhem
Abou Ben Adhem ( may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace.
And saw, within the monlight of his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom.
An angel writing in a book of gold.
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the presence in the room he said,
"What writest thou?"-The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered 'The names of those who love the Lord.'
'And is mine one?' said Abou spoke more low,
But cherly still: and said 'I pray thee then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men.'
The angel wrote, and vanished.
The next night
It came again with a great awakening light,
And showed the names who love of God had blessed.
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
I Love you , Grandma.
